What does this site offer?
This site endeavors to be the largest, most popular, most fun, most informative community-administered interactive site about Famous Jews. We are constantly working to upgrade and expand this site, in terms of information, functionality, experience and opportunities. Sign up now to be notified when new versions are released.
Why are the Jews interesting?
The Jewish People represents just one fifth of one percent (that's 1/500) of the human race. They are but one of many small groups of people with their own culture, language and homeland. One would expect that they should hardly be heard of - except perhaps in a brief mention in a small multi-cultural footnote of a high school geography book.
This is obviously far from the case. Jews are at the center of every creative, scientific, cultural, political, and philosophical movement and endeavor. Jews are over-represented as Nobel Prize recipients, winning at least 20% (that's 1/5) of all awards given to date. That's an astounding 100-fold over-representation! Jews are also over-represented in all forms of medicine, in all the professions, in every sport, in the media and the arts, in modeling and fashion, in law-enforcement and the military, in political sex scandals, in new-age religion... In almost everything that represents the free world and all of its trappings, Jews are there. Wanna discuss this "Jewish Mystique"? We are creating a forum for doing just that.

Is this racism, supremacism, chauvinism, ethnocentrism, etc?
Folks on the extreme left: Are Jews the only group not allowed to be proud? What's wrong with a little celebration of diversity? Multiculturalism? Or is that just for other folks? No? We should all be the same? No differences, no countries? Thought police? Sounds kinda grey and oppressive to me. But hey, you can always move to North Korea - I hear it's a workers' paradise!

Who is a Jew?
We've decided to sidestep this issue in order to make everyone happy. As you probably know, there are a number of ideas on who is a Jew, and there is much disagreement between the various Jewish groups. Since many (if not most) proud 100% Jews are not religious, in the strict sense, Jewishnewss is clearly not defined by faith. No major Jewish group has ever claimed that it is. What all Jewish groups agree on is that if your mother is Jewish, you are Jewish. So it is our plan to indicate maternally-Jewish Jews by some kind of icon and/or tag and/or filter. For the purposes of this site we will also include individuals with only a Jewish father. We will also include individuals who have undergone an official "conversion" process through any of the major Jewish groups. Is everybody happy now?
Who made this site?
An international ultra-secret Jewish cabal has hired the world's greatest web developer to create this site. Just kidding... on the first, not the second. ;) This site has been developed and maintained with the help of donations from people like you who care about increasing Jewish awareness and pride in their people and heritage. We will continue accepting donations or migrate to a subscription (freemium) model in order to support the costs that this site incurs from hosting and development.
